What is F-tax?
F-tax certificate is needed by non-Swedish businesses that is active in Sweden. Before 2021, only Swedish businesses and non-Swedish businesses with a permanent establishment in Sweden were required to hold the F-tax certificate. However, since 2021, all businesses are required to hold F-tax certificate. Read more here.
Why F-tax?
If your business is not approved for F-tax, your clients/customers will be obligated to withhold 30 % tax when paying your invoices. Therefore, only 70 % of your invoice will be paid. The 30 % that is held, can take a very long time to have reimbursed by the Swedish Tax Agency. It is therefore easy to understand why your business should get the F-tax certificate as soon as possible.

The purpose of the F-tax certificate, is to enable the Swedish Tax Agency to monitor non-Swedish businesses. The application for F-tax can therefore lead to unwanted surprises, for example if the Swedish Tax Agency considers that your business has a permanent establishment in Sweden.
